Thank you for further exploring the option of seeing me as your therapist. I consider it an honor to be able to join you on your life's journey and to be a part of your healing, growth and transformation.
As a therapist, I make empathy, acceptance, compassion, and respect the foundation of my approach to all who come to see me. In my experience as a therapist, clients are phenomenal people. Choosing to see a therapist and to do the work required to heal, grow, and change requires courage, commitment, resilience, and determination.
Because of the unique set of qualities and issues that each client brings to the table, I have a primarily “client-centered” approach. I believe that you have your own answers and solutions within. My primary role is to guide and support your discovery and development of those solutions that will result in healing, growth, and change for you. Along with facilitating your process, I provide information and tools that you may not be aware of and that would be of help to you. I take an eclectic approach with regard to how I assist your process. I believe that each client has their own way of processing, and what “works” for one individual may not “work” for you. My perspective is that there is no such thing as “one-size-fits-all” therapy. Also, different therapeutic needs and stages require different approaches.
Finally, I believe that our body, mind, emotions and spirit need to be engaged in the therapeutic process. While I do not actively promote any one spiritual path as a therapist, I align with the 12 Step Program of Alcoholics Anonymous which states that to grow and heal we need something bigger than ourselves. The journey towards healing and wholeness is not for the faint of heart. A spiritual path can be an additional source of support--providing strength, comfort, encouragement, and wisdom.
